Currently, each user can send e-mails to a maximum of 500 recipients per day using their e-mail account. In addition, there is a restriction that imposes a limit of 200 e-mails per 5 minutes and 450 e-mails per hour.
These limits were motivated by the enormous difficulty in combating SPAM (unsolicited and undesirable mail). For the IST not to be affected as a whole, these restrictions are necessary to ensure a good e-mail service is provided.
