Setting up the wireless network (eduroam) in MacOS

The following instructions refer to the wireless network configuration in the Mac OS operating system. This tutorial is based on the macOS Monterey v12.3.1 version.

Please take notice that if you previously had eduroam on your computer, you first need to forget the network. For it to be complete, you should remove all eduroam entries from your Keychain and Profiles.

  1. Click on the wireless networks icon, located in the bar on the top of your screen. The “eduroam” wireless network should be available.
  2. Click on the “eduroam” network. Fill the following fields:
    • Username – istxxxxx@tecnico.ulisboa.pt, where istxxxxx corresponds to your Técnico ID
    • Password – password corresponding to your Técnico ID
  3. A verification window will pop up with the information regarding IST’s certificate. Click “Continue” to install IST’s certificate on your computer.
  4. Then, to complete step 3, you should fill in the username and password information corresponding to your computer’s local account.
  5. The “eduroam” wireless network should be configured on your device.
